As you probably know, the library
provides students, staff, and faculty with access to over 35
online databases through the library Web site. These research tools cover
a range of subjects. The first step in creating a durable link to find an appropriate
database and locate a useful article. Most databases, but not all, provide users
with the ability to use durable links. The list at the bottom of this contains:
Based on the platform (company that provides us with the database), each database
will provide you with durable link options in different ways. In some of the
databases, you just want to cut and paste the URL (Web address) from the address
line while you are viewing the article. Other databases such as the EBSCO databases
(Academic Search Elite, Animals, Health Source, etc) provide a clear link in
the citation of the article when you open it. Use the chart below to learn where
to find the durable link. Then, highlight the link and paste it in word pad,
blackboard, or even Microsoft Word. You will need to paste it somewhere where
you can alter this link to route students through the library's system.
