Rather than spend class time with data entry, you can have your data saved on your calculator using named lists. These named lists can then be recalled and transferred to L1 to L6 of the STAT editor.
Storing data from a list into a named
list.
As an example, the
following data set representing the price of 21 hybrid cars are entered into
L1. They will be stored in the calculator as the named list "HYBRD".
The name of a list cannot be more than 5 characters and must start with a
letter.

| 1. With the data
entered into L1, exit the editor. 2. Press "2nd", "1" for L1 and press "ENTER". The data list will be displayed. |

| 3. Press "STO" to store the list.. | |
| 4. Press "2nd" "STAT" to access "LIST". |
|
| 5. Use the right arrow to highlight "OPS" and press "ENTER". |

| 6. Scroll down and select "B:L" |
|
| 7. Press
"2nd", "APLHA" to lock in the ALPHA key and enter
HYBRD and press "ENTER". The data from L1 is now stored in the named list "HYBRD". |

Recalling a named list and transferring
the data to the STAT editor.

| 2. Scroll down and highlight the named list you want to use. |

| 3. Press "ENTER" twice to select and display the list. |

| 4. Press "STO" to store the list. |

"2nd", "1" for L1 and press "ENTER".
The data in "HYBRD" will be stored in L1. |

Transferring lists from your calculator to TI-Smartview.
| 1. Use the silver
USB cable to connect your TI-83 or TI-84 to your computer and turn on your calculator. 2. Start your TI-Smartview program. 3. In TI-Smartview select "Tools" from the top menu. 4. Select "Establish Connection". 5. From the new window, select *USB1 USB Silver link Cable" and select "Select". |

press "2nd", "X, T,

| 7. Use the right arrow and highlight "RECEIVE". |

| 8. From your
calculator press "2nd", "X, T,
|

| 9. Scroll down and select "4: List" and press "ENTER". |

| 10. Scroll down and
press "ENTER" at every list you want to transfer to TI-Smartview. In this case, only the list "HYBRD" is going to be transferred. |

| 11. Use the right arrow and select "TRANSMIT". |
|
| 12. From TI-Smartview, select "1" to "Receive" the list(s). |
|
| 13. From your calculator, select "1" to "Transmit" the list(s). |
|
| 14. When the list(s)
have been transmitted to TI-Smartview, the screen will display the list(s) and "Done". |
