Additional Information
about
Using the Software Center

Software Restrictions

To use the Software Center (ELMS) students must be enrolled "for credit" in an IMS department course where software under this license has been made available. There is a limit of 1 copy of each product per student regardless of the delivery method. (See Course-Software List under Available Software). For products configured with multiple delivery options, students may choose only ONE of Download (no charge) or Media Purchase (requires payment by credit card). The Download and Media Purchase options will be available and handled only through ELMS.

Purchases

Any purchase made through ELMS is a direct transaction between you and Microsoft and is only made available through the Moraine Valley IMS department. Regardless of the delivery method, all Software products are governed by the Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) license agreement. Prices are subject to change and reflect the minimal cost of disc media and are not an entitlement to typical retail licenses for those products.

Disk Media Sales are available only online and using only credit card purchases (Visa/MasterCard only). Any discs ordered for purchase will be delivered to your residential (or other) address supplied when ordering and will not be delivered to the school.

Activation/Login

You may view available Software and Support information without logging in by clicking on those tools at the top of the page. Please read the FAQS page before emailing anyone with questions. To order or download any software you must login, however before you can login you must first must have an active account on the ELMS system. You can review the steps necessary to activate your account and then login here in the IMS Department web site.

To avoid delays, make sure your student email account is active before the semester begins by signing in at least once; If you have not accessed your student email account for several months, it becomes inactive and new messages are lost.

Once your ELMS account has been activated, that system will automatically generate and send a welcome message to your Moraine Valley student email address. The message sent to that address will contain the username and password necessary to login and use the ELMS Software Center. Accounts will be active only during the a semester in which you qualify to use the Software Center. Decide early if you want to use the Software Center and then purchase or download software as soon as possible.

Auto-generated email, and
spam blocking software

During the ELMS activation process, an automatic email response is generated and sent to your Moraine Valley student email address. This message will be sent by the ELMS server at e-academy.com, and there may be a note about "attachments, pictures, and links in the message being blocked for your safety" due to one or two embedded links in the message. There also may be an option to "show content" to the right of the message, and there may be another option to mark the email as "safe or unsafe". As long as the message is from the ELMS server at e-academy.com, then it is ok to mark the "safe" option. You likely will be receiving additional email from this server later when ordering software,

If your account was active but you do not receive this message then the email software used to access your student email may be set up to block messages from unknown servers or other sources. If this is the case then you should setup your email software to accept messages from the ELMS server (e-academy.com). Information about Moraine Valley student email is located at www.morainevalley.edu/studentemail. Although not recommended, if you have forwarded your student email to some other email software then you should setup that program also to accept messages from the ELMS server.

After your ELMS Software Center account has been activated, you should be able to login using your Moraine Valley student email address as a username along with the password sent to that address by the ELMS server. Keep in mind that the password originally issued by ELMS for logging into the Software Center is not the same as other systems where your student email address might be used as a username, although typically you can change your password once you have logged into a system the first time.

If you experience difficulty, please check the Support page on ELMS for FAQS, other help, and contact information.
