What Software Can I Get?

Anyone who violates IMS Department or Microsoft policies and restrictions regarding this license will (at the very least) have their ELMS account deactivated and no longer be able to participate through this license program. Review the information under Student Use Guidelines, School Policy, and Software Duplication to find out more about these policies and restrictions.

Your ELMS login account will be active only during a semester in which you are currently participating for credit in one of the selected classes. Once your account becomes inactive, you will not have access to that site.

Select the course(s) in which you are participating under Course-Software List below to see what software is needed for that course.

You are responsible for adhering to IMS Department policy and Microsoft Academic Use restrictions. Also, read Check Hardware/Software Requirements (below) to find out if your computer and operating system will support these products.

Operating Systems

This license provides an operating system to support software development using other products obtained through this license. If you decide to upgrade your operating system, do so at your own risk! Moraine Valley Community College and the IMS Department are not responsible for providing support if you run into problems installing or upgrading an operating system, or any other software, obtained through this license. You only need to consider a new operating system if:

  • You are ordering one of the other software products through the MSDNAA license
    - AND -
  • Your current operating system does not already support that software product

If both conditions apply to you then consider upgrading your current operating system.

Check Hardware/Software Requirements

Click a software title after selecting a course from the Course-Software List (above) to review hardware and software requirements for that product. Also, if installing an operating system as an upgrade, be sure to check the Windows XP Requirements and Windows XP Upgrade Path to see if your system and current version of Windows can support and be upgraded to the new operating system. If an upgrade is not supported, you will need to consider a clean install or other operating system start up options (check the product readme files).

How Do I Get Software?

You must be "currently participating for credit" in one of the courses listed under the Course-Software List (above); Only then are you eligible to get software using one of the Software Availability Options (below). There are two options, both requiring access to the Software Center (ELMS):

  1. Purchase at a discount, or
  2. Download a CD or DVD ISO Image file
See Software Tips for help about which option might be best for you. ELMS login accounts will be coordinated through the instructor for each class in which you qualify, and your account will remain active only for the duration of that class.

ISO CD/DVD Image File

Some software products require a unique personal activation key -- Those products and activation keys will be distributed and are available only through ELMS and only for the duration of the class in which you qualify. ISO Image file downloads require a CD or DVD burner and additional software capable of re-creating the setup disk from an ISO image file.
