Contact your textbook publisher for information on your texts “Blackboard” compatibility. This should be done months before a course is offered for the first time. Some publishers provide the following, and each has its benefits and downfalls.
Course Cartridge
These can cause problems copying from semester to semester.
Unlimited Use: These will load information onto the Moraine Valley Blackboard system. This information includes Test Pools, and content from the publisher. Copies over from semester to semester easily.
Verify with your publisher that this is free for the students to access. Some may require an access code, which the instructor must order when the textbook order is placed.
Sponsored Website
This option actually brings the student into an off campus website that is based on the Blackboard operating system. Students must purchase an access code, approximately $25, and this allows them to register at this course site. These sites generally have tremendous amounts of additional content and testing systems built in.
Course Cartridge
This is a small download that offers the test bank and some built in content. Again, make sure that this is multiple use, not single use.
