expect that you already know how to use word processing, e-mail, and the
Internet. You should be comfortable using a mouse, working with Windows and
scrollbars, copying and pasting, and managing and downloading files.
Having the necessary computer skills is essential to being successful in an
e-Learning course. Before taking an online course, you should be able to answer
YES to each of the following statements:
1. I can define the term personal computer.
2. I can identify the primary hardware components of a personal computer, such
as the monitor, system unit, keyboard, mouse, floppy drive, and hard drive.
3. I can use the mouse to point, click, right-click, double-click, and drag.
4. I know the correct way to insert a disk in a drive.
5. I am familiar with the Windows desktop (icons, taskbar).
6. I can launch a program in Windows.
7. I can close/exit a program in Windows.
8. I can copy, delete, and rename files in Windows.
9. I know how to access and manage files and folders on my personal computer.
10. I can navigate between multiple windows.
11. I access to a computer and, through it, the Internet.
12. I am comfortable using a keyboard and mouse.
13. I can read from a computer screen without it bothering me.
14. I feel comfortable using the Internet.
15. I can successfully find information I am looking for using a Search Engine.
16. I can download a file from the Internet.
17. I am comfortable opening e-mail and downloading attachments.
18. I know how to cut, copy and paste.
19. I know how to create, open, and save a word processing document.
20. I can shut down Windows.
